After much hard searching with spades and gloves they unearthed some Roman artefacts!

Having sparked a real interest and curiosity in Roman times, the pupils visited Fishbourne Roman Palace where they had a fantastic day despite the wet weather.

They dressed up as Romans, created mosaics, built a Roman bridge, explored a Roman kitchen, wrote on wax tablets and learned to write their names in Latin.

Becky Lucas, Year 3 teacher, said: “What a busy day! These opportunities bring history to life for the children and inspire them to want to discover more.

“Now they have real life experiences to use when writing, acting, painting and drawing.”

A Roman Day is also planned for later in the term.”
