I have always considered myself a “real” Bexhill person. I played on the rocking horses, caught trains from Bexhill West, worked in Beeching Road, Bexhill Museum and taught at Bexhill College and volunteered at a shop in Western road.

But the two times I have counted the footfall, the number of pedestrians entering Western Road from the library end, I was astounded. Let me give the figures for Saturday, 8th August between 11.15 am and 12.15 am. : 303 people walked Into Western Road in that hour, family groups, the young and the old. Not just walking but using wheelchairs, mobility scooters, walking aids and pushchairs.

These people need the room to be assured that they remain as Covid free as possible and the Government is prepared to give ESCC the money to achieve this with a pavement widening scheme.

Further evidence has been gained about cars and footfall from the other end of the road, including on a weekday. We will be happy to provide this.
