March 20 is the UN International Day of Happiness, which aims to create a happier and kinder world, and to make people appreciate the importance of happiness within their lives. This year’s theme is ‘Be Mindful. Be Grateful. Be Kind’.
We are lucky to have plenty to smile about in Sussex, with the coast and Downs on our doorsteps and so much more. Here are some of our favourites...

"In Eastbourne I love walking through Little Chelsea on a warm day before making my way to the beach with a book or magazine. When I find the chance I also enjoy walking through The Lanes in Brighton. I love soaking up Brighton's relaxed vibe while checking out the independent shops, restaurants, cafes and pubs." "Walking the dog on the Downs surrounding Eastbourne. Plenty of nice tracks, fresh air and dog friendly pubs serving lunch and decent IPAs." Photo: Google

15. Izzi Vaughan, community journalist
"The clifftop walk from Peacehaven towards Newhaven on a sunny day is a great way to relax and get some fresh air. And the views of the sunset and sunrise are incredible!" Photo: Google

"There are many walks around Rother, some wooded with a rich variery of flora and fauna, others through open rolling countryside filled with gentle sheep and soft grass. Each one of them is a joy." Photo: Google
