East Sussex destination the UK’s fourth-best staycation this summer
Eastbourne has been ranked the UK’s fourth-best staycation destination this summer, according to new research.
It tied with Portsmouth in fourth spot of the UK’s top 10 summer staycation destinations, according to a study by credit card brand Aqua.
The Sunshine Coast also ranked as the second most affordable destinations with an average nightly hotel cost of £115 in August or September – only behind Brecon Beacons (£112).
The research considered metrics like the cost of accommodation, online popularity and weather data to reveal the best staycation destinations for holidaymakers to choose from this summer.

And in August and September, Eastbourne’s average temperature of 17 degrees celsius and average rainfall of 59.9mm earned it joint-fourth spot.
The town also received an Instagram hashtag volume of 1,000,000 and 48,960 average online searches for ‘visit’ and ‘hotel in’.
London was ranked the number one UK staycation destination, followed by Northumberland and Southend-on-Sea.
