The names of TV licence evaders from across Sussex prosecuted by HMCTS Single Justice Service in October
Hundreds of people have been prosecuted in recent weeks for failing to buy a TV licence, including some from Sussex.
HMCTS Single Justice Service records results handled by various courts prosecuting people from across England.
The names of those prosecuted are made public in court documents regularly released to the press.
Those who admit using a television set without a licence and those found guilty at court are fined, and end up with a criminal record.

The annual licence is £180, with discounts for certain groups.
Every household that watches live television or live streaming, including on laptops or mobile devices, needs a TV licence.
The licence funds the BBC’s output including TV and radio, podcasts, Bitesize, the website, apps and the iPlayer. The corporation says that every week, 90 per cent of UK adults use at least one of its services.
People who do not buy a licence, but watch live TV, are prosecuted at magistrates’ courts under the Communications Act 2003. It is a summary-only offence, punishable by a fine of up to £1,000, and can only be heard by magistrates. Non-payers cannot be jailed, but those who repeatedly refuse to pay fines imposed by the courts can be jailed under separate legislation.
