Hastings gets new bins as part of Pride in Place funding
More litter bins will be appearing around Hastings as part of the Government Pride in Place scheme which saw the town being awarded £20 million.
Projects to get funding are being decided by a panel of local residents, called the Neighbourhood Funding Board, chaired by Kevin Boorman and comes under three categories.

Pride in Our Streets: Up to £250,000 a year for public realm improvements like bins, bus shelters, benches, murals, and pavement repairs.
Pride in Our Neighbourhoods: Up to £500,000 a year for community centre upgrades, sports and leisure facilities, playgrounds, and youth activities.
Pride in Our Town: Up to £1 million a year (starting from year two) for heritage restorations, such as Hastings Castle, the town centre and seafront improvements, and major infrastructure.
More than 7,000 local people have already responded to say how they would like to see the Pride in Place money spent.
New litter bins are already in place, displaying the Pride in Place logo, with more on the way.
Kevin Boorman said: “People told us they wanted cleaner streets and litter bins is a great way to solve that problem.”
MP Helena Dollimore said: “There will be lots more litter bind popping up with more cleaning equipment provided. Then, later in the year we are going to have the Grotbuster vans that will be going up and down the seafront emptying the bins more often, cleaning up graffiti and tidying up our town.”
