The incredible collection was offered by artist Laurie Stone Wisdom who collected the toys and models with husband Hugh, who sadly died from Covid three years ago.
The couple had collected model planes, toy cars and other items for more than 30 years. Some of the items in the collection dated from the 1930’s.
The auction took place at The Kino Teatr in Norman Road, St Leonards, on Wednesday. Its artistic director Olga Mamonova is a friend of Laurie’s.
It attracted collectors and enthusiasts from all over the country.
Olga Mamonova said: “There was quite a lot of local interest, as well as people who contacted us from London, Brighton, and from Leeds."
Local performer and MC Tim Bavard was the auctioneer for the event It raised £6,000 for the RNLI in its 200th anniversary year.
