Peregrine falcon takes roost in St Leonards
Local photographer Brian Bailey captured this shot of a Peregrine falcon that has taken roost on the tower of Christ Church St Leonards, in London Road.
Peregrine falcons are no longer rare in many major towns and cities, with dozens of breeding pairs now established in urban centres across the UK, according to the Natural History Museum. But it is still a rare sight in Hastings and St Leonards.
Towns provide a constant supply of feral pigeons and other small birds, which make up the bulk of their diet.
There have also been reports of Peregrine falcons roosting on the tower of historic All Saints Church in Hastings Old Town.
