Stay away from Shripney Road, motorists warned, as fire and rescue deal with vehicle fire in Bognor Regis

Motorists and pedestrians were warned to keep clear of Shripney Road on the A29 yesterday (July 20), as fire and rescue units dealt with a large vehicle fire.

A spokesperson for West Sussex Fire and Rescue said: “Yesterday afternoon at 3.39pm we were called to large vehicle fire on Lidsey Road, Bognor Regis.

“Joint Fire Control mobilised two fire engines from Bognor Regis, one from Chichester, and one from Littlehampton, and off-road vehicles from Midhurst and Petworth to the scene.

“Upon arrival the crew found a combine harvester that had caught fire in a field. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire using three hose reels and remained on scene damping down and turning over.

“The crews left the scene shortly after 6pm.”
