Sussex mum-of-six launches pop-up role play sessions – and bookings are already open

A mum of six is using all the skills she’s learned during 21 years of parenting to set up a new class for children.

Hannah North’s pop-up role play business will be based at Angmering Community Centre on Thursday and Friday mornings, initially offering two sessions each morning along with some special themed sessions in school holidays.

Split into different themed areas – such as a supermarket, teepee and camping area, greengrocers, vets, doctors and more – the sessions are predominantly aimed at children aged two to four, but children as young as babes in arms can be welcome.

Hannah, 43, said: “My kids love role play, but some of the existing places are so expensive. I just thought there’s no reason why you couldn’t do it this way to keep the costs down and make it more accessible to everyone.

"Having been a mum for 21 years, with a huge age gap – my youngest are twins aged two – I’ve done everything from singing to messy play to sensory and we haven’t ever found a pop-up role play like this.

"I hope to use all that experience I’ve got to put on the sessions.”

Classes must be booked in advance via Hannah’s new website to ensure she doesn’t go over on numbers – www.ourlittleworld.co.uk – but people are not committed for a term and can book as they wish from week to week.

There is also a Facebook page called Our Little World for more information about sessions.

Going forward, Hannah hopes to offer after-school sessions and during the holidays said she will keep the classes running and allow children up to age seven to attend.

Sessions will be at 9.45am and 11.15am, stating from October 3. Hannah is also offering a children’s party package.

Hannah added: “I want the sessions to offer family time, social skill development and a nurturing space where pre-schoolers can explore the relationships between playing a role and developing a sense of self and identity.”

The community centre, in Foxwood Avenue, Angmering, does not have a café, but Hannah said people are welcome to bring snacks for their children and use the communal area with high chairs.
