It features a greedy heron whose eyes were bigger than his belly, whose problem was solved with a little help from his friends.
Gerry Bennett penned the captions as well as taking the pictures. “This was a really amazing experience to witness so close up,” he said.
“I’ve seen herons struggle with eels, and get in a real tangle, and also despatch small finger size fish but I sense this was a young heron who is still learning his trade - and I plus numerous others were there to witness it on a stunning, sunny, Sunday tea-time.”

1. A rather glorious, stately looking heron was standing ‘ankle deep’ in the Ouse around low tide. Eyes peeled, but the body almost motionless apart from the occasional adjustment of position to facilitate ‘fishing for his supper’. SUS-200916-104226001
