The items – a ruby pendant with a ‘JSR’ hallmark and a gold stud earring with a ‘DBS’ hallmark – are still missing following a smash and grab at David Smith Jewellery, in Lewes High Street at about 1.45pm on Wednesday (11 May).

Police say the items were among approximately £20,000 worth of goods stolen from the store.

A number of items have been recovered but the pendant and earring remain missing.

The suspect is described as a man, about 6ft 3in and skinny. He was wearing a red and white mask, a black hoody over his head and black jeans. He also carried a hammer, which was used to smash two cabinets in the store, and a black rucksack, which was used to carry the stolen items.

He was last seen heading down Station Street, where he turned right towards Southover Grange Gardens.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call 101, quoting 804 of 11/05.
