Bexhill council workers subjected to 'verbal and racial abuse', town council says
Council workers in Bexhill have been subjected to 'verbal and racial abuse', says the town council.
Cleaning staff and town rangers had been abused, it said.
A statement on the council’s Facebook page said: “Unfortunately, in recent weeks, several of our cleaning operatives and town rangers have been subject to verbal abuse, including racial abuse in some cases.
“Our staff members deserve respect and dignity in their workplace, and we thank the vast majority of the public who already afford them this.

“We are absolutely clear that verbal and physical abuse of our staff will not be tolerated, and that serious incidents will be reported to the police.”
The town council said: “The town rangers play a crucial role in advancing the town council’s objectives of enhancing environmental standards, promoting community safety, maintaining cleanliness, and promoting the well-being of the town.
“As key members of the operations team, the town rangers are responsible for a wide range of tasks related to maintaining and improving the town’s facilities, services, and events.”
Bexhill Town Council has been approached for a comment.
