Six flats approved in conversion of West Sussex village hotel

Plans to convert a Slinfold hotel into six flats have been approved by Horsham District Council.

The application to change the use of the part Grade-II listed Random Hall Hotel, in Stane Street, was given the nod by planning officers.

Once work is complete, there will be three flats on the ground floor – one two-bedroom, one four-bedroom, and a five-bedroom – and three flats on the first floor – one two-bedroom and two one-bedroom.

No changes will be made to the access from Stane Street, or to the parking area.

A planning report stated: “The proposal would result in the loss of an existing hotel and tourist accommodation within the countryside. However, the submitted marketing and viability evidence satisfactorily demonstrates that the business is no longer commercially viable and that reasonable efforts have been made to retain the property in its existing use.”
