Reeves and Mortimer rehearsing in Eastbourne all week

The comedy duo, who found national fame in 1990 after building up a cult following on the comedy circuit, are instantly recognisable for their distinctive brand of comic stylings which has seen them cross genres; from anarchic TV variety shows (Vic Reeves Big Night Out) to comedy sketch show (The Smell of Reeves and Mortimer), game shows (Shooting Stars) and their own brand of situation comedy (House of Fools).

The start of the tour had to be postponed following a routine doctor’s appointment for Bob Mortimer which flagged up a serious heart condition.

Bob, who lives in Tunbridge Wells, has undergone successful treatment and the postponed tour can now begin – the 15 date tour which takes the pair all over the country is the first time they have been out on the road since 1995.

In addition to being Britain’s self-proclaimed ‘top light entertainer’ Vic Reeves, who lives in Charing near Ashford, is also a respected artist who recently auctioned 250 art works.

The Congress Theatre has a history of providing a base for comics to warm-up prior to arena tours, Michael MacIntyre took to the Eastbourne stage in 2014 prior to his 2015 tour, comedy superstar Lee Evans has performed at the venue before every major tour and Eddie Izzard even filmed his 2003 DVD Sexie at the 1600 seat venue.

25 Years of Reeves and Mortimer: The Poignant Moments warm-up show is at the Congress Theatre on January 29 at 7.30pm.
