Revealing the "real Tudors in all their glory, filth, glamour and gore"
Tracy Borman on tour
Bestselling author, historian and broadcaster Professor Tracy Borman is taking the drama of the Tudor court on the road this autumn with a new theatre show, Tudors on Tour.
Dates include Saturday, October 24 at the Devonshire Park Theatre, Eastbourne and Sunday, October 25 at the Yvonne Arnaud, Guildford.
A spokesman said: “The 28-date UK tour will see Borman bring to life the larger-than-life personalities of the Tudor dynasty in a fast-paced theatrical experience packed with intrigue, power struggles, forbidden love and, of course, more than a few beheadings.
“Chief historian at Historic Royal Palaces, Chancellor and Professor of Tudor History at Lincoln Bishop University, and one of the UK’s most respected voices on the Tudors, Borman will guide audiences through the secrets, scandals and stories behind one of the most fascinating royal families in British history.
“From Henry VIII’s six wives to the private world of Elizabeth I, and from Shakespeare and spies to the scandals that unfolded behind palace walls, Tudors on Tour promises to reveal the real Tudors in all their glory, filth, glamour and gore.
“Combining storytelling with stunning visuals, props, costumes, film and music, the production goes far beyond a traditional history lecture. Instead, it offers an immersive live show that takes audiences behind closed doors to uncover the truth about the dynasty that changed England forever.
“The show will appeal to history enthusiasts of all ages and offers a particularly valuable experience for GCSE and A-Level students studying the Tudor period. Whether revising Henry VIII’s break with Rome, exploring Elizabethan England or untangling the complicated web of Tudor marriages and rivalries, audiences will see familiar stories brought vividly to life.
“Expect fresh perspectives on well-known figures including the truth behind the Virgin Queen and surprising insights into Tudor life, from Henry VIII’s hygiene habits to Elizabeth I’s astrologer-turned-spy – often described as the Tudor court’s own version of James Bond.
“A prolific author, Tracy’s books include Thomas Cromwell, The Private Lives of the Tudors, Anne Boleyn & Elizabeth I, and The Stolen Crown which published in September 2025, and was an instant Sunday Times bestseller and was Waterstones’ History Book of the Year.
“Tracy’s new fiction book, The House of Boleyn, a novel about the rise and fall of Tudor England’s most famous family was published by Hodder & Stoughton on April 23.
“A regular on our TV screens, Tracy presents Channel 5’s long-running series Inside The Tower of London, and numerous other documentaries, including The Fall of Anne Boleyn and most recently, with actor Jason Watkins, Stonehenge: Secrets of the New Stone.”
