Rye and Battle schools shut because of teachers’ strike

A NUMBER of schools in the Battle and Rye area are closed to pupils today (Thursday) as teaching staff take part in a regional strike.

Claverham Community College in Battle, Rye College and Robertsbridge Community College are all shut for the day, along with a number of primary schools; Battle and Langton, Brede, Burwash, Catsfield, Crowhurst, Guestling-Bradshaw, Staplecross and Westfield.

Members of the NUT and Nasuwt are taking industrial action over a range of issues affecting teachers including pay, pensions, what they say are excessive workloads, working conditions and job cuts.
