School hosts Autumn Show

CHILDREN from Icklesham Primary School played a key role in the Horticultural Society’s recent Autumn Show.

The event was held at the school and there were a number of categories for children to enter.

In new cookery sections, sponsored by Syd and Kate Mylrae, of Manor Oast Farm, Wendy Mitchell won a shield for her muffins and the prize for best seasonal dessert.

Janet Ireland’s tomatoes netted her the Phoebe Merricks Cup for Best in Show. Stuart Baker won two trophies for his fruit and vegetables, while Ann Osborne won the Galbraith Cup for most points in flowers.

There was plenty of autumn colour on show too, with some impressive pumpkins and squashes.
