The Selsey Centre hosted the event, where friends of the late Sir Patrick came together on what would have been his 90th birthday.

“It was an occasion for all of his close friends and the people of Selsey to say goodbye to the great man,” said John Mason, a friend and colleague of Sir Patrick.

Dr Mason was joined by Sir Patrick’s celebrity friends Brian May, Jon Culshaw and Tim Rice, who all spoke of the times they enjoyed with the Selsey stargazer.

Through ticket prices and an auction, the event raised £3544.50, which was recently presented to Alison Moorey, chief executive of the hospice.

“On behalf of St Wilfrid’s Hospice I would like to say a huge thank you to people in Selsey who helped to raise such a tremendous amount at Sir Patrick Moore’s tribute event, and I hope everyone had a wonderful and very memorable evening,”
she said.
