Step nearer 40 new Weatherpoons jobs in Burgess Hill

Pub chain Wetherspoons has moved a stage nearer opening at the old Curry’s and Sussex Stationer’s premises in Burgess Hill.

The firm has been granted a licence to sell alcohol.

Mid Sussex Council said this week that no objections had been raised, so the decision was taken by the council’s licensing officer.

The company already holds planning approval from councillors to convert the former shops and has said about 40 jobs would be created. A few people had complained about potential noise problems. The cost of the scheme is expected to be about £1.2 million.
