Steve left his home town on Sunday for a month cadging free rides across Europe.

Every ride he succeeds in getting will see him donate the fare he has saved to charity.

His unusual fundraising quest will be boosted by his busking on the streets through which he passes.

These are set to include Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Brussels and Berlin.

Steve, 28, said: “I am going to attempt to hitchhike across Europe for about a month.

“My first stop will be in Bruges and, from there, I will begin my hitchhiking adventure.

“The two charities I have chosen carry out essential work on areas of the world that have affected me on my previous travels and this is what has motivated me to support them.”

Steve hopes to raise £1,000.

He recently taught English in South Korea before he returned briefly to his home town,

Steve’s chosen good causes are Just a Drop and the Hunger Project.

Nicola Swann, Just a Drop’s fundraising manager, said: “We are delighted Steve has chosen to support us in such a unique way.

“Every pound he raises will bring clean water to someone in need and we encourage people to donate to help him raise as much as possible from his tremendous efforts.”
