Sussex travel: Part of A29 closed, village collisions reported, A27 and M23 delays – latest travel updates
Drivers are facing disruption across Sussex and Surrey, following a series of collisions, road closures and breakdowns.
In the Chichester district, three separate incidents are affecting journeys on Monday evening (July 6).
The latest is on New Road, Halnaker, where the road is partially blocked after a crash involving a bus and a car on the eastbound carriageway near the A285 Stane Street. Queueing traffic has been reported following the collision.
Meanwhile, the A286 Main Road at Birdham is blocked northbound between Bell Lane and Old Common Close following a crash, with queues in the area.

There are also delays on the A27 Chichester Bypass eastbound at Stockbridge Roundabout, where a stalled vehicle is partially blocking the carriageway at the junction with the A286 Stockbridge Road.
Elsewhere in West Sussex, the A29 Stane Street, at Five Oaks, was reported as closed. The AA reported: “Road blocked and queueing traffic due to crash on A29 Stane Street both ways from New Road to A264 Horsham Road.”
In East Sussex, the B2124 Laughton Road at Laughton is closed in both directions after fallen power cables blocked the road between Cow Lane and Moor Lane, leading to queueing traffic.
The A2100 Hastings Road near Battle has also been closed in both directions following a crash in which a lorry damaged overhead power lines. Emergency repairs are under way between Telham Lane and Battle Hill, with slow traffic reported.
On the A259 between Bexhill and Hastings, drivers are experiencing queueing traffic through roadworks near Blackbrooks Garden Centre.
In Surrey, one lane is closed on the M23 southbound between Junction 8 (M25 Interchange) and Junction 9 (Gatwick Airport) following a crash. Traffic was briefly held shortly before 5pm and delays of around eight minutes remain, with average speeds of about 10mph.
A separate incident is affecting the B2130 The Street in Surrey, where the road is blocked northbound between The White Horse pub and Mare Lane because of an obstruction in the carriageway, with queueing traffic reported.
Drivers are advised to allow extra time for their journeys as disruption continues across the region.
