Pevensey Bay restaurant closes just days after announcing rebrand

A restaurant in Pevensey Bay has announced its closure just days before it was due to open under its new identity.

Massilia Bay, in Sea Road, was due to relaunch as La Mora on Wednesday, November 4.

The restaurant was taken over by 37-year-old Nathan Scammell in May of this year, who also became the chef.

La Mora intended to offer a “more refined dining experience” as well as a new “welcoming” wine bar.

But the restaurant’s closure was announced on social media on Monday evening (October 26).

A spokesperson for the restaurant said: “It is with regret that we announce the closure of Massilia Bay.

“Unfortunately, despite our hopes and plans, we have been unable to move forward with the launch of La Mora.

“We would like to sincerely thank everyone who has supported us, visited us and been part of our journey.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you all for your understanding.

“Thank you for everything.”
