Further west on the A27 at Lancing, a stalled vehicle has partially blocked the westbound carriageway at Sompting roundabout. Drivers are facing delays of around eight minutes, with average speeds of just 5mph. Knock-on delays are also reported at Offington Corner.

In Worthing, queueing traffic is building on the A24 Findon Road near Hillview Rise, with congestion stretching for around half a mile in both directions through ongoing roadworks.

Meanwhile, in Loxwood, the B2133 is reportedly partially blocked, in both directions. This is said to be due to an overhanging tree in the road, near the Scandia factory.

In Littlehampton, Grove Crescent remains closed – between Elm Grove Road and Hill Road – because of a fire at a bungalow. The closure is within residential roads and is not currently affecting through traffic.

Drivers in Chichester are also experiencing delays of around four minutes on the westbound approach to Portfield Roundabout, with slow-moving traffic between the A27 and the Chichester Bypass.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time for their journeys and check traffic conditions before setting off.
