Worthing road closed due to sinkhole

A road in Worthing is closed following the discovery of a sinkhole.
Part of Grand Avenue is closed for ‘ urgent repair works’, according to West Sussex Highways.
A Highways spokesperson said: “Please be advised that Grand Avenue, outside No. 69, Worthing, is currently closed due to a sinkhole.
"Southern Water is on site carrying out urgent repair works.”
The water supplier said its teams are repairing a pipe leak.
They added: “The road is closed so our engineers can work on the repair safely. The road was closed on October 21 and is scheduled to be open on October 28.
"We’re sorry for the inconvenience this causes residents and commuters and thank them for their patience.”
