The Arundel Museum Society is this week appealing for a number of people to join its organisation and help keep the town’s new museum, in Mill Road, up and running.

The museum, originally founded elsewhere in the town in 1964, needs a new marketing assistant to help publicise up-coming events and exhibitions.

The role would involve writing to the press about the goings-on at the museum, helping to co-ordinate campaigns and assisting the production of publicity material such as posters.

For more information on this and other volunteering opportunities in the area, contact Derek Moore, Arun Volunteer Centre co-ordinator, telephone 01903 731223, email [email protected] or call in at the centre on the ground floor, Bradbury Centre, 1-5 St Martin’s Lane, Littlehampton, from 9am to 4pm on Mondays and Thursdays and 9.30am to 4.30pm on Wednesdays.

Other opportunities at the museum for volunteers include becoming a steward to welcome visitors to the site and answering any questions they may have.

Training for this role will be provided.

People are also needed to manage front-of-house duties. This would included welcoming visitors, taking money for admissions to the museum and selling items from its shop.

Work hours for both range from 9.50am until 1pm and 12.50pm to 4pm, seven days a week. However, more volunteers are needed during weekends.

Helpers are also sought to assist with regular history walks around Arundel.

Littlehampton Citizens Advice Bureaux (CAB) is seeking for someone to become a voluntary administrator. Those with experience using Microsoft Word and Excel would be desirable. The job will see applicants keeping records, making appointments for clients, answering the phone along with other activities.

Young Enterprise West Sussex is appealing for people to help the business tycoons of tomorrow.

The organisation is urging volunteers to become business advisers to lead teams of students, aged 14 to 19, developing their own businesses at local schools. Students will be running their own company for a year. Volunteers will need to offer advice and guidance on this and attend weekly meetings.
