Storm Austen: Eastbourne Pier closed amid severe weather
Eastbourne Pier has been forced to close as Storm Austen continues to bring extreme weather to the Sussex coast.
A yellow weather warning for wind is in place until 5pm today (Friday, October 23), with gusts of 70mph possible.
The pier’s social media team confirmed that the attraction was ‘temporarily closed’ today.
A spokesperson said: “Eastbourne Pier is closed due to severe weather and high winds.
“We apologise for any inconvenience.
“For your safety, Eastbourne Pier is temporarily closed due to adverse weather conditions.
“We hope to reopen as soon as it is safe to do so.
“Thank you for your understanding.”
