Waiting for it or not Halloween and its accomplice, trick or treat have once more come to haunt on Thursday October 31st. Since it originated about 600 years ago the evening is characterised by fears of the unknown, inner emptiness and the future. Yet this day also stands for the very opposite of fear. On October 31st 1517 Dr Martin Luther, a German monk and theologian courageously published the simple straightforward truth of the Bible. As a result the Bible came to be read by ordinary people, who as Luther, were deeply troubled by sin and found peace with God as well. Reformation Day is on October 31st and is commemorated on Reformation Sunday which this year is October 27.
