Worthing's Superstar Arts take part in Bright Craft Fair

Worthing based Superstar Arts took part in the Bright Craft Fair at the Unitarian Church in Brighton.

The event, held on February 4, was organised by open house and pop up shop 11 Rugby Road’s Daniel Mackey and Adam Johnson, who hosted the fair to bring local contemporary crafts to the town centre.

Adam described Superstar as a ‘jewel of the crown’ linking Brighton with its sister towns in Sussex, enabling participants to come to a safe space to learn and develop.

In the current economic climate, with ever deeper cuts in social care budgets, Superstar Arts have devised a more creative approach to fundraising and sought to partner with 11 Rugby Road to generate the funding they urgently need. In creating products from ‘concept to cash’ for Bright Craft Fairs, Superstars develop a wealth of life skills and raise the money the organisation needs to exist.

At the fair, Superstars Martin, Claire and Richard ran their own stall.

Martin said: “I really enjoyed myself being able participate it is such a great experience. It was a great turn out of people. It made me feel good inside and I felt chuffed seeing customers with smiles on their faces, happy with the goods they brought. Being part of Superstar Arts has changed me in so many ways. It’s very inspiring, it is fun and I’ve learnt so many skills and made many great friends. You get involved in so many amazing opportunities too!”

Claire said: “We were there to sell our lovely things in this beautiful building and I loved the flowers on the steps. The customers were very happy for us. Adam and Daniel helped us to sell our work in Brighton and I am very proud of what I done. I love coming to Superstar Arts. It makes me feel happy”.
