Chichester's seniors travelled to Canterbury to complete their Southern Athletics League campaign.

They notched good performances in a match that featured national champions Blackheath & Bromley.

Facing some of the stiffest competition of the season, Chichester had reason to celebrate.

Decathlete Charlie Roe headed George Grainger for a sparkling Chichester one-two in the 110m hurdles, then improved his all-time best with a 3.40m pole vault, a timely boost for his appearance in the Sussex decathlon championships this weekend. Grainger fought well over the 400m hurdles and the 400m while Tim Brown teamed up with Roe in the throws, again facing stiff competition.

James Baker had a slightly easier time in the middle distance with a 5,000m and steeplechase double victory while Greg Smith gained good senior experience over 400m and 1,500m.

For the sprinters it was a tough afternoon with some fast times all round but Alex Fryday showed good form in the women’s 100m and 200m. Peter Eydmann and Henry Matthews-Smith battled well in their match.
