Champions Ifield finish season with win, Three Bridges end with high-scoring defeat

Sussex Cricket League Division 2 champions Ifield finished the season with a win.

Archit Patel’s side were confirmed as league winners after last week’s washout but they finished the season in style.

Raminda Wijesooriya took 4-20 as Ifield bowled out East Grinstead for 149 in 33.1 overs.

In reply, Sadeesh Jayawardena (47 not out), Wijesooriya (39) and Dan Smith (46 not out) saw them to the target in just 21.2 overs.

That result meant Ifield finished 32 points ahead of Brighton and Hove and Eastbourne in second and third. East Grinstead and Pagham were both relegated while Preston Nomads 2nd XI face a play-off.

Three Bridges lost a runfest with Horsham by 18 runs. Louie Lawrence (104), Ramsay Trainer (103 not out) and Will Beer (61) all batted well as Horsham posted 336/4 from their 50 overs.

In reply it was the Luke Beaufort show as he smashed 146 from just 113 balls. He was supported by James Russell (46), Ollie Blandford (38), Joe Walker (32) and Michael Cowdrey (27) but they fell just short.

That result meant Bridges finished fifth in the table following their points deduction a week earlier.

Roffey were crowned Premier Division champions with a win at Cuckfield, which saw the home side relegated after wins for Bognor and Hastings.
