Billingshurst get a lesson in finishing at Hassocks

Billingshurst got a lesson in finishing as they lost 4-0 at Hassocks.

A cagey first half affair where the home side had a lot of possession but Billingshurst were compact and nullified Hassocks. In fact the best 3 chances of the first half fell to Billingshurst, the returning Morgan Prill from injury had 2 good chances and Tom Edwards found an inform Hassocks goalkeeper who made a very good challenge on him.

Into injury time of the first half and practically the last kick, Billingshurst went in 1-0 down. They failed to clear a corner which was volleyed home by Liam Hendy.

Into the second half and Billingshurst were sent out with instructions to stay patient and take your chances, however we wondered if a goal would come. Tom Edwards, Ben Cole, Tosin Dada, Brandon Engstrom all had chances saved well by the hassocks goalkeeper. A strong penalty claim on Tom King were also away waved by the referee.

Then after seeing a nice move between Ben Cole and Tosin Dada, the effort ending up wide, Hassocks made it 2-0. A through ball to Omar Abdsami who finishes well.

Hurst kept plugging and a good spell wasn’t punished, the feeling of poor finishing really proving costly today.

Hassocks then made it three and the 4-0 in the last 10 minutes which was really disappointing as the scoreline didn’t reflect the game.

Manager Eddie French said: "We've been good infront of goal this season, but we lacked that cutting edge today and were wasteful early on. When you don't take your chances away to a top team like Hassocks, then it's likely you get punished and that’s exactly what happened as they finished the game much stronger.

"We competed for large parts again but we have nothing to show for it. Thats how its going currentley. We know what we have to do. We'll be better for the experience."
