Brighton confirm deal with Champions League club for £25m ace

All the latest transfer news for Brighton and Hove Albion and across the Premier League

Brajan Gruda has joined RB Leipzig on loan for the 2026/27 season.

The 22-year-old spent the second half of the last campaign with the Bundesliga side, scoring three goals and creating three assists in 14 appearances.

Leipzig finished fourth last term in the German top flight and qualified for the Champions League.

Brighton’s sporting director Mike Cave said, “Brajan had a good second half of the season with Leipzig and was keen to explore the opportunity of remaining there for the coming year.

“This is a move that allows Brajan to continue to secure regular playing time at a good level, in an environment he knows well.”

The Germany Under-21 international joined Brighton from Mainz 05 in 2024 for around £25m and has made 45 appearances for Fabian Hurzeler’s team.

Brighton’s options

Gruda mainly operates on the right of the attack or in the No 10 role and it’s a area where Brighton have plenty of options.

Yankuba Minteh is currently the main man in that position but Amario Cozier Duberry - fresh from his successful loan at Bolton - and Harry Howell are all pushing.

Brighton also signed 19-year-old Nigerian winger Zadok Yohanna earlier this window for around £20m and he’s expected to challenge for first team football next term.

Diego Gomez can also operate in that role, while the likes of Matt O’Riley and Facundo Buonanotte are at Brighton for now but both could move on this summer.
