Brighton vs Crystal Palace predicted XI: Lewis Dunk decision made and a strong Jack Hinshelwood hint
Brighton vs Crystal Palace in the Premier League from the Amex Stadium - Sunday, 2pm
There’s the small matter of Brighton against their old rivals Crystal Palace at the Amex Stadium today.
It’s one of the most eagerly anticipated fixtures of Albion’s Premier League campaign and Brighton welcome Pierre Sage’s team in confident mood.
The impressive Seagulls are third in the league standings and are the leading scorers in the division, while Palace are further down the table in 13th spot.
But Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler - who joined the club in 2024 - is yet to enjoy a victory against Brighton’s biggest rivals and the German is determined to put that right today.
Hurzeler said: “The main thing for us is really to focus on us. So we play at home, we play in front of our fans.
“So in general, yeah we face a good opponent, but the focus definitely on us because we want to improve ourselves.
“We want to play our style of football and stick it to our principles, and then we have a good chance.”
Brighton’s likely XI
Bart Verbruggen - GK: The Dutchman is playing some of the best football of his young career and is a huge figure for Brighton this season. He was handed the captain’s armband when Pascal Gross came off in midweek in the Conference League win against Kauno.
Ferdi Kadioglu - RB: The Turkey international was excellent at Sunderland last week and seems back to his top level after struggling at the start of the season.
Lewis Dunk - CB: The skipper loves a game against Palace and will no doubt relish the stick he will undoubtedly receive from the travelling fans.
Luka Vuskovic - CB: The Croatian will get his first taste of the Palace fixture, having impressed so far since joining for £50m from Tottenham.
Olivier Boscagli - LB: The French defender has emerged as a key figure this season and will likely retain his spot at left back. His delivery with his left foot could play a big role.
Pascal Gross - CM: It’s Pascal Gross... of course he plays!
Yasin Ayari - CM: The Sweden international offers running power and tactical nous in the centre of the pitch. He’s also a goal threat too... give him a new contract.
Diego Gomez - RW: He’s yet to get on the scoresheet this season but likely to start due to his intense pressing and work rate. Yankuba Minteh is still injured.
Malick Yalcouye - No 10: I’m guessing the Ivory coast international will get the nod over fit-again Jack Hinshelwood for the No 10 role - but it’s a close call.
Maxim De Cuyper - LW: Another who is playing the best football of his career so far. Always a threat on the left with goals and assists. Kaoru Mitoma remains sidelined.
Charalampos Kostoulas - CF: I’m going with the Greek striker for this one but Georginio netted twice in midweek and his pushing for his first Premier League start since the opening match of the season.
