Brighton's Jack Hinshelwood issues injury update ahead of Crystal Palace
All the reaction from Brighton’s 4-0 Conference League against win against Lithuanian league leaders Kauno Zalgiris
Brighton's Jack Hinshelwood said he had no reaction to his injury after his goalscoring return against Kauno Zalgiris.
Hinshelwood, 21, scored Albion's second goal in the 4-0 victory against the Lithuanians during the Conference League clash at the Amex Stadium.
He played 57 minutes in total last night before being replaced in the second half by striker Promise David.
It was the midfielder's first piece of competitive action since injuring his ankle in the 4-0 Premier League win against Aston Villa on the opening day of the season - a match where Hinshelwood scored twice.
"Yeah, feeling good," said Hinshelwood to Sussex World after the win against Zalgiris. “I came off as planned today, so it was good to get the minutes back in the legs.
"And, yeah, hopefully now I can just keep building up and help contribute to this team.
"I think that's the main thing, you know. I've got to work really hard to fight for a place because the boys are doing so well and that's great."
Brighton have excelled so far this season. They are third in the Premier League and are the leading scorers in the division. They have also made good progress in the Carabao Cup and the Conference League and Hinshelwood knows he has a fight on his hands to regain to his first team spot.
Hinshelwood: Fighting for my shirt
"I'll be supporting them and fighting for my shirt back," Hinshelwood added to Sussex World ahead of Sunday's Premier League clash against old rivals Crystal Palace at the Amex Stadium.
"All the best squads in the world, you know, have competition for places and that's no different here.
"I think if someone loses their shirt, someone else is ready to step in and take it. And that'll probably be me now, ready to take my opportunity.
"And the main thing, we've got such a good squad and good togetherness that we're all pushing in one direction.
"There's no big egos and that's massive for the team going forward, especially with so many games on the horizon."
