'Look who's back' - Brighton star on the bench at Manchester City after 13-match absence

Carabao Cup fourth round: Manchester City vs Brighton and Hove Albion - Wednesday, 7.30pm

Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh returns to the matchday squad for the first time this season.

Minteh, 22, is yet to feature this term having sustained a leg injury in a pre-season friendly victory against Roma.

The flying Gambian - who was wanted by Liverpool in the previous transfer window - is expected to appear from the bench in the second half.

The return of the £30m man is a huge boost for the Seagulls as they try to juggle the demands of the Premier League, the Conference League and the domestic cups.

Mats Wieffer is also on the bench as the versatile Dutchman returns following a knee injury picked up in the 4-3 loss at Chelsea earlier this term.

Brighton changes

It's a much changed starting XI for Fabian Hurzeler’s Seagulls from Sunday's 2-0 Premier League loss at Liverpool.

Cup keeper Jason Steele is between the sticks ahead of regular No 1 Bart Verbruggen, while summer arrivals Costinha and Hadjam take the full back positions.

Michale Svoboda - who became a father for the first time earlier this week - is at centre back alongside Frenchman Olivier Boscagli.

Skipper Lewis Dunk and Luka Vuskovic drop to the bench, with Saturday’s Premier League clash - also against Manchester City at the Etihad - in mind.

Pascal Gross goes again

There's no rest for veteran German midfielder Pascal Gross as he starts alongside Yasin Ayari in central midfield.

Jack Hinshelwood is in the No 10 role with Diego Gomez and Malick Yalcouye supplying the ammunition from the flanks.

Georginio leads the line in attack as Albion - who are the highest scorers in the Premier League this term - look to score once again after blanks in the last two matches at Jablonec and Liverpool.

Brighton XI: Steele, Costinha Svoboda Boscagli Hadjam; Gross Ayari; Gomez Hinshelwood Yalcouye; Georginio. Substitutes: Verbruggen, Dunk, Minteh, Promise, Osman, Wieffer, De Cuyper, O'Riley, Vuskovic.
