Graham Potter's men did however show another side to their game and determined performances earned creditable away draws at Wolves, Sheffield United and West Ham. Brighton will need those qualities and perhaps a touch more flair when the season resumes. Here we look at who was playing well and who needs to shine in the remaining matches. Scroll down and click through.
9. Adam Webster
A solid enough first season in the top flight following a big money move from Bristol City. The defender has had a few wobbles but importantly showed strength of character to came back strongly. Strong defensively, likes to get forward and has three goals to his name. A couple more goals from set-pieces from the remaining matches would do very nicely.
10. Leo Trossard
Lots to like about Trossard. Clever movement, skilful on the ball and has the composure to pick out a final pass. Flashes of brilliance and a consistent end to the season could well make all the difference for Brighton.
11. Glenn Murray
Game time has been very limited this season but he proved in the 3-3 at West Ham that he can still deliver when it matters most. Hugely experienced and while he may not be a regular in the remaining nine matches, don't be surprised if Murray makes a few telling contributions along the way.
12. Aaron Mooy
The Australian international has been in this situation before with Huddersfield and his experience will be vital for Albion. Proved this season he is a player of true Premier League quality. Offers work rate and has a keen eye for goal.
