Crawley Town secured only their second win of the season 1-0, as a horror show for Oldham saw two men sent off and their assistant manager sent to the stands, before Danilo Orsi scrambled the ball home for the only goal of the game.

The Reds made the one change from last week’s 1-1 draw with Tranmere, with Charlie Barker coming back into the back four, with Ade Adeyemo dropping to the bench. There was also a place on the bench for Josh Flint, after his return in the week.

Oldham were reduced to 10 men after 13 minutes, when Kai Payne was shown a straight red for a foul on Danilo Orsi, and that became nine men when Kane Drummond was sent off for a high boot that hit Kai Jennings in the face on 38 minutes. Despite the two-man advantage, Crawley had lots of pressure but nothing to show for it.

The Reds came out at the start of the second half, looking to make the two-man advantage count. Charlie Barker’s effort bounced down off the bar for Danilo Orsi to eventually bundle home after 52 minutes.

Despite the obvious advantage for the reds, Oldham still pushed forward, and there were times Crawley scrambled to get the ball clear, and even in injury time Oldham still could have snuck an equaliser.

Here are the player ratings:

Vito Mannone – 7- Only really had one save to make in the game, despite Oldham having 14 shots on goal.

Kellan Gordon – 7- Was good going forward, dealt with anything down his flank in defence. Booked on 85 minutes.

Priestley Farquharson – 6 – Was under a lot of pressure despite the two-man advantage but coped with it ok.

Charlie Barker – 7 - Assist for Orsi’s goal, as it was his shot that rifled off the bar to Orsi. Dealt with everything in defence.

Lewis Richards – 7 – did well down the left side of the pitch, setting up some good attacks.

Stephen Duke-McKenna – 6.5 – Was fairly quiet today, which is unusual for him. Replaced by Dion Pereira on 70 minutes.

Dylan Morgan – 7.5 – Booked on 39 minutes. Had a good game, had two shots well saved in the first half, but nothing of note in the second.

Jude Arthurs – 7.5 – The usual captain’s performance by Arthurs, all over the pitch in defence and attack.

Kai Jennings – 7 – Did ok during his 38 minutes on the pitch, was booked on 25 minutes. Replaced by Pemi Aderoju on 38

Jonny Russell – 6.5 – Struggled dealing with Mike Fondop all game, booked on 71 minutes, and replaced by Josh Flint on 77 minutes.

Danilo Orsi – 8 - A scruffy goal for the opener, but they all count! Despite the advantage, wasn’t as involved as you would expect. Replaced by Ade Adeyemo on 77 minutes.
