Downlands Year 8 boys win County Cup after 53 years of trying!

After 53 years of trying, the Downlands Year 8 boys football team finally brought the Sussex Schools FA County Cup back to school.

The boys made it three titles out of three cup finals with a thrilling win over The Forest School in the final of the Sussex Schools County Cup. After a great goal by Adam Lindo in the first half, Downlands scoring run began in earnest in the second half.

The final result was 5:0 with second half goals from Luke Perdrix (2) and Oli Munt (2). The Man of the Match award went to Downlands player Ed Turns.

Everyone played their heart out and contributed towards a fantastic all round team performance. Well done to everyone in the squad for becoming the first ever Downlands football team to be win a Sussex County Championship!

The Downlands squad is Angus Hill, Luke Goff, Josh Hickingbotham, Adam Lindo, Dexter Webb, Cam West, Charlie Jones, Shay Leahy, Sam Wright, Luke Perdrix, Ed Turns, Alfie Baldock and Oli Munt and is managed by PE teacher Kyle Lusk.
