Eastbourne United too strong for Lancing - and stay top of SCFL Premier
Eastbourne United maintained their position at the top of the SCFL Premier Division with a 3-1 victory at Lancing on a wet and windy Saturday afternoon.
Lancing made the perfect start by taking the lead inside the opening minute. Daniel Bull was penalised for handball inside the area, allowing captain Scott Packer to convert the resulting penalty. Samuel Scott delivered a dangerous cross into the box, and James Hull headed the ball in off the crossbar to bring the visitors level.

United began to apply more pressure, although Lancing continued to defend well. At the other end, Antoine Sharpe tested Secka with an effort that the goalkeeper pushed away. The visitors completed the turnaround in the 39th minute. A pass from Scott released Callum Barlow, who cut inside from the byline and finished beyond Lancing keeper Callum Monks to give Eastbourne a 2–1 lead at the interval.

The ball bounced around inside the penalty area, but Monks eventually gathered it safely.

Lancing continued to compete and created an opportunity on the break, but the resulting effort sailed over the crossbar. Eastbourne also threatened from a series of late corners without initially finding a decisive third goal.
The key moment arrived during the closing stages when Eastbourne’s number 11 made an excellent run into the penalty area and was brought down by Packer. The Lancing captain received his second yellow card and was sent off.
