Greenwich mean business to knock Pagham out of FA Vase

Pagham’s impressive run in this season’s FA Vase came to an end as they suffered a 5-1 home defeat against a very strong AFC Greenwich Borough outfit.

Despite the disappointment of the result, there is plenty for Pagham to take pride in after another memorable cup campaign, which saw the club reach the second round proper of the Vase for the first time in eight years.

The visitors proved their quality from the outset, putting Pagham under pressure and taking control of the contest.

By half-time, the damage had largely been done, with AFC Greenwich Borough establishing a commanding 3-0 lead. With such a mountain to climb, the tie was looking almost beyond Pagham heading into the second half.

The visitors continued to demonstrate why they are such a strong outfit, eventually running out 5-1 winners to book their place in the next round and bring the Lions’ cup adventure to a close.

For Pagham, the bigger picture should not be forgotten.

Reaching the second round proper of the FA Vase is a significant achievement. It has been eight years since Pagham last progressed beyond this stage of the competition, and although they have fallen short once again, this year’s journey has given the club, players and supporters plenty of reasons to be proud.

It has been a season of impressive cup performances across both the FA Cup and FA Vase. Pagham have enjoyed strong runs in both competitions, creating memorable moments and showing what they are capable of when competing on the cup stage.
