Horsham benefiting from Dorking Wanderers relationship

Dominic Di Paola has praised the ‘really useful’ working relationship Horsham have with National League South side Dorking Wanderers after the Hornets were forced to call on help to deal with a depleted squad for last Saturday’s Isthmian Premier Division win over Potters Bar Town.

The Hornets had three key players missing with Jack Brivio, Lee Harding and Rob O’Toole all sidelined through injury.

Di Paola brought in prolific striker Elliott Buchanan from local side Dorking Wanderers to help cover with Buchanan the third Wanderers player to make the temporary switch this season.

Full-back Jerry O’Sullivan proved to be a fan favourite in his five-month loan spell while Ben Dyett also caught the eye with the defenders making a combined 22 appearances in yellow and green this campaign.

The arrangement with Dorking manager Marc White has benefitted both clubs with Horsham able to find cover in positions they’d otherwise be lacking while Dorking have been able to keep their players in peak physical condition.

Di Paola said: “It’s really useful. Marc’s one of my best mates in football so he does us quite a few favours and we do him some favours.

“We haven’t got the luxury of a massive squad or being able to get loans from pro clubs so this relationship works brilliantly for us.”
