Walsh and Hendon take over at Horsham YM

Horsham YM have appointed Alex Walsh and Will Hendon as the club’s new joint first-team managers.

They replace Liam Giles, who resigned earlier this month.

YM, who have been managed by interim duo Stephen Trussell and Archie Cramer since Giles and his backroom team left, said: “Alex and Will bring a wealth of coaching, management and playing experience to YM, alongside a shared commitment to player development, positive team culture, and competitive football.

"The pair are co-owners of Matchfit Football Academy, a Sussex-based football development academy focused on technical development and individual player progression. Their work together helps young players develop their game in a positive, high-quality coaching environment.

"Alex is a UEFA B-licensed coach and holds the FA Youth Module 3 qualification. He has built an extensive coaching and managerial career in Sussex non-league football, including roles with Brighton College, Lewes FC and Whitehawk FC, where he was part of the first-team coaching staff. Alex has also previously managed Loxwood FC and served as joint manager of Lancing FC.

"Will brings valuable playing experience to the management team, having played as a defender for non-league clubs in the UK and semi-professional sides in Australia. His playing career included spells with Worthing and Eastbourne Borough, as well as Hume City FC and Adelaide Olympic FC.

"The appointment marks an exciting new chapter for Horsham YM, as the club looks to continue strengthening its footballing structure, develop players and build a competitive, sustainable future both on and off the pitch.”

Walsh said: “We are delighted to be joining Horsham YM. There is real potential at the club, and we are looking forward to working with the players, staff, supporters, and volunteers to build a team everyone can be proud of.”

Hendon added: “This is an exciting opportunity for us. We want to create a positive, hardworking environment and develop a competitive side that represents Horsham YM in the right way.”

YM Chairman Geoff Foreman said: “Alex and Will impressed us with their enthusiasm, experience and clear vision for the first team. They understand the importance of building a strong first team, clear opportunities for players and a club that remains at the heart of its community. We are delighted to welcome them both to Horsham YM.

“The committee were genuinely impressed by the high standard of applications for the First-Team Manager position, and we would like to thank everyone who took the time to apply.”

YM lost both their bank holiday games and now host Lingfield on Saturday.
