Warden Park girls flying high in cup competitions

Park have enjoyed a long run of dominating girls’ football in Sussex with six County Cup wins in seven years and the U13 girls beat Downlands 2-0 in the National Cup, followed up with a 2-0 win against Tanbridge.

Both opponents were in the County Cup final last year, so to beat both these schools was a fanatic achievement.

In both games a touch of class was shown by McInerney-Morris who scored three of the four goals. Nevertheless, allowing her to play with freedom was achieved by the fantastic work done by Mullins who has been awarded player of the match’in both games.

The team have been solid as a rock at the back. Special thanks to Lazenby, Johnson, Pendlebury and goalkeeping shared between De La Rue Browne and Hinley.

The attacking pace out wide with Conant and West was incredible and both keep getting better and better. With West and Conant beating players and getting balls in the box, it gives Dobson, Brooks, Pawley, Power and Abraham the chance to get among the goals.

These girls all scored in the 8-0 win against Hove Park in round one of the ESFA Cup.

Not to be left behind, the Year 7s are developing into a great team. With 20 girls involved in the squad, picking a starting nine is a challenge.

The team picked up wins over Oreil, Thomas Bennett and Oathall but fell to a 1-0 defeat to Sackville in a game Park dominated.

The team have the luxury of three 'keepers, Ball, Eustace and De La Rue Browne, and all do a great job. The defence is martialed by Johnson alongside Ryder and, the most improved player of the season thus far, Kaynes who is extremely quick and physical.

The midfield is dominated by Dobson with Meaden and Ryder out wide. Turner is a constant goal threat up front and scored two against Oreil. Bishop, Reed and Tite have all showed excellent progress from the start of the season.

The girls are hoping to make significant progress in the League, County and National Cups. The girls are all receiving excellent coaching thanks to Crawley FC and many are playing at our local clubs, which is a massive bonus.
