Appeal for readers’ help finding long lost relatives

Peter Baker is hoping Herald & Gazette readers can help him trace any long lost relatives who live in the area.

He sent in this photo of his grandfather, Frederick Henry Baker, taken soon after he joined the Royal Field Artillery in 1913.

Peter said: “This photo featured recently in a BBC South East Today story, ‘My Great War Photo’, which is part of an on-going series.

“My grandfather was born in Worthing in 1895 and the 1911 Census shows that he was living in The Drive, West Worthing.

“He had several brothers and sisters, but sadly, his son Ern (my father) lost contact with his uncles and aunts in the late 1940s.”

Frederick’s siblings were: Florence, born in 1884; Walter, 1886; Edward George, 1888; Edith Kate, 1891; Arthur William, 1893; Percy Alfred, 1897; and Charles Thomas, 1899.
