Tips and preview for Fontwell Park's Wednesday racing

They race over the jumps at Fontwell Park on Wednesday afternoon.

Jumping action is back again at Fontwell this Wednesday, with six exciting races to look forward to; two over fences and four over hurdles.

Read on for a preview of and tips for the Fontwell card from BOYLE Sports, who have all the horse racing betting.

The opener is a maiden hurdle run over two miles and three furlongs (1.57). Lord Du Gouet makes his hurdling debut here, having won a point-to-point and placed in a bumper. His trainer, Jamie Snowden, is in such excellent form that he must enter calculations here. On The Bayou is one to watch out for, though, as he is entitled to have come on from last season.

Race two is a handicap chase run over two and a quarter miles (2.32). Chatty Girl begins this season on a nicely reduced mark, while Sea Warrior is interesting on seasonal reappearance, having had wind surgery over the summer. Joe Tizzard’s horses have been running well and this seven-year-old should have a fair chance.

The third race is a mares’ handicap hurdle run over two miles and three furlongs (3.07). Inion Tiogair seeks a hat-trick, returning for the new season here, while Eastern Shores could be a big contender here on a reduced mark for the new term, and has had wind surgery over the break. Fergal O’Brien’s horses have been running well and this mare looks handy.

Next is a handicap hurdle run over the same trip (3.42). Dan Skelton’s Honky Tonk Highway could bounce back to her best black-type form today, having been on the sidelines since December last year. Motazzen has been going well, though, and is likely to run another solid race for Henrietta Knight.

Second to last is a handicap chase run over three miles and two furlongs (4.17). Carrigmoorna Rowan went well on reappearance at Huntingdon and has every reason to take another step forward, while Daring Plan seeks a hat-trick under seven-pound claimer Ciaran O’Shea. He should have few excuses here.

Racing concludes with a novices’ handicap hurdle run over two and three quarter miles (4.50). County Champs is given Fern O’Brien’s valuable five pounds and has a nice chance, even carrying topweight. There isn’t much in the way of attractive form elsewhere, so he should be the one to beat here.
