The top two clashed in the Premier and honours were even between leaders One Hit Wonders and Dynamos. Wonders’ Marc Burman was the only treble man, while team-mate Bertrand Siu claimed one before teaming up with Burman to square it with a doubles win over Dennis Hayden and Matt Caddy, who each won two. The other win for Dynamos came from Mounis Abosedira.

Bullets had a good 7-3 victory over Lindfield Thunderbolts thanks to trebles by David Champneys and Fred Bodeau, who also combined to beat Eric Smith and Harold Torkington. Andy Steel missed out for Bullets as he lost to Smith, Torkington and David Metcalfe.

Despite the return of Terry Dean, Bats were stunned to be held by two-man Cuckfield as Bev Godfrey and Paul Read lost out only to Dean. There was no joy for Samantha Monk and Les Hopkins.

Burgess Tigers went down 2-8 to Hang Em High, with Michael Bridger denying Tigers a point when he took the last four points to beat Angus Ogg 12-10 in the fifth after Ogg had squared it by the same margin. Ogg and Kath Owston both beat Toby Champneys but there were no other wins as Bridger and Paul Brinkhurst secured trebles.

Bashers hung on to top spot in Division 1 despite being given a run for their money by two-man Wild Bunch, inspired by Tom Christopherson as he beat Annabel and Kate Bridge before teaming up with Luke Gallagher for a 14-12 victory over the sisters in the fifth game of the doubles. Bashers No 1 Lyle Cyster won both his singles.

Magiks went second with an 8-2 victory over Ashenground, whose No 1 Tony Pells won both as Shirley Williams and Roxanna Malkiewicz missed out.Alistair Blue notched a treble and there were two apiece for Tony Turk and Kevin Deacon.

Spin Masters and Paddlers had a great battle, with all bar one rubber going to four or five sets before Paddlers edged it 6-4. Two-times winners Nooch Staplehurst and Alex Jeffery joined forces to win the doubles in the fifth, while team-mate Rupert Browning won one. Tom Smith played well without any luck for Masters as Chris Slade and Charlie Hough notched doubles.

Junior Alex Bryant averted the whitewash for newcomers Parents Unite against Wanderers, for whom Ray Parker and Phil Harvey won three. Bryant beat Marcin Andrzejewski in five as well as taking a set off Parker and two off Harvey.

Gangsters were also done no justice by a 2-8 scoreline against The X Men as Phil Sayers and John Bridger notched trebles. The replies came from Vincent L’Estrange and Colin Cooper against Tim Grant.
