Bradshaw Lodge care home is inviting members of the community to attend a friendly and informative event on Friday 20th November focused on staying safe online and protecting themselves from scams.

As more people use technology to stay connected, shop online and manage their finances, fraudsters are finding increasingly sophisticated ways to target individuals through phone calls, emails, text messages and social media.
Age UK reports that almost five million people aged 65 and over believe they have been targeted by scammers, while around four people aged 50+ are scammed every minute in England and Wales.
Taking place in the care home from 2pm-3pm, the event at Bradshaw Lodge aims to help people recognise common scams and feel more confident when using technology.
People will be given practical advice on spotting suspicious messages, avoiding fraudulent links and protecting personal information online. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the warning signs of scams, ask questions, share experiences and pick up useful tips.
Teresa May, General Manager at Bradshaw Lodge said: “We want to make sure people feel confident and supported when using technology. Scams can happen to anyone and knowing what to look out for can make a real difference. This is a chance to come along, learn something useful and have a friendly chat over a cup of tea.”
Everyone is welcome to attend.
You can find out more about community projects at the home's weekly Coffee Morning from 10AM-11:30AM.
