On Monday 7th September, Shoreham Bowling Club played their penultimate Brodie League match of the season away against Worthing BC. They won on two rinks, lost on the other two rinks and were beaten on the overall shot count by just two shots. Therefore, Worthing picked up six points and Shoreham picked up four points. The club's final Brodie match of the season will be played later this month and they will need two points from that match to guarantee another very credible second place finish in this league in which ten clubs participate. Bowling in Shoreham's winning rinks today were; Marion Hoggen, Dave Hoggen and Skip, Dave Page in a Triples match and David Cornwell, David Goodman, Brian Bulmer and Skip, Phil Hillsden in the Fours match.

A couple of days later, Shoreham played in a very enjoyable friendly match against Brighton BC. Brighton struggled to get enough players for the match, so Shoreham bowler Dave Clevett made up the numbers for the Brighton team. Shoreham won the match 54-34 and bowling in their winning rinks were; Barbara Velardo, Mike Watts, Brian Bulmer and Skip, David Goodman in a Fours match;  Marion Hoggen, Steve Fuller and Skip, Dave Hoggen in a Triples match. On Friday, Shoreham held their annual Shoreham Masters internal competition in which the entrants are split into four groups and play matches of four ends each against other bowlers in their respective groups. Each group winner then plays a two end semi final, the winners of which then play in a two end final. Congratulations to Wayne Brown who went on to win the tournament and what a great achievement for Steve Fuller, who was the runner up in his first season as a bowler.  In their final match of the week, Shoreham played at home in a friendly match against Rottingdean. They won on three rinks and were beaten on the other rink but the final score was 65 - 61 to Rottingdean. In one of Shoreham's winning rinks, Dave Clevett, Marion Hoggen and Skip, Dave Hoggen were losing by ten shots against their opponents halfway through the match. They fought back well in the second half but with one end left to play, they were still four shots behind. On the final end, the Shoreham triple picked up another five shots to cap a great comeback victory. Bowling in the club's other two winning rinks were; Alan Heselden, Brian Bulmer and Skip, Wayne Brown; Steve Fuller, Barbara Velardo and Skip, Suzie Warley.
