“The new group is now preparing to begin activity across Eastbourne.

“With training and support provided by our Road Safety Team; the new group will enable trained volunteers to monitor vehicle speeds and educate motorists, while helping to raise awareness of road safety issues within their neighbourhoods.

“We would like to thank all those who have volunteered their time to support the scheme.”

Inspector Yabsley said: “It's fantastic to see a new Community Speed Watch group established in Eastbourne.

“Residents have raised concerns about speeding in a number of areas across the town, and these volunteers will play an important role in supporting road safety and encouraging drivers to slow down.
